Pintervention #5

Pintervention #5?!? That can only mean one thing...it's been 5 weeks already! I cannot believe how fast this summer has gone! Before we know it we will be back in our classrooms setting up for a new group of kiddos. I can't be the only one who is just a little bit excited right? I love my summers, but I also miss having a schedule and structure in my day to day.

With all that being said...I have been extremely busy lately! I have been spending lots of time at the pool, with friends, etc and I haven't posted much or had an opportunity to blog stalk all of you. So I apologize for the lack of posting and commenting...I promise I haven't forgotten about all of you!

This week for my pintervention I strayed away from school stuff yet again (the closer the first day of school gets the less I get done!) This time I wanted to try the DIY workout shirt. I am one of those weird people that like to run/workout. I run quite a few races each year which means I have TONS of t-shirts. Well, in addition to running I love, love, love boxing...and let me tell you boxing in a t-shirt is a sweaty gross mess...so turning some of my old running t-shirts into tanks has been a life (and money) saver!

Here is the original pin:

and here is one of my shirts...
I tested one of my shirts out this morning...and let me tell you it was GREAT!!! I was still a hot, sweaty mess...but I looked slightly cuter than usual! lol!

Also...in other EXCITING news...I won a giveaway! There is no better way to start my Friday morning than finding out I won something!! Not only did I win...but I won a ton of really GREAT stuff!!! Thank you to Jenn over at A Pirate's Life for Us!
If you get a chance, go check out her ADORABLE blog!!

Pintervention Party #3

It's week #3 and I'm still on track! This week I didn't get a chance to make anything for my classroom because I was lucky enough to have family in town all week...so I was VERY busy! Especially spending time with my favorite little girl!

According to my 5 year old cousin we are more than just cousins...we are friends...so on Tuesday night she informed me that we needed to spend some more time together and she was going to sleepover. I of course couldn't say no...and honestly I was excited to have her! However, this meant I had a helper for my pinterest inspired dessert for our 4th of July party.

Now I have never baked anything...unless you count a box of brownies or the cookies you break apart and put on a pan...so my first baking experience with a 5 year old was nothing short of humorous!

The s'more bars turned out deliciously but I'm still not sure what "cream together" means and I'm still confused as to why when the recipe says mix in the sugar it meant the sugar and the brown sugar...joys of first time baking!

The most important part was we had fun and the s'more bars were a hit!
Here is my original pin:

She helped me crush up the Graham Crackers...because this way her hands wouldn't get sticky!
She even wanted to help with the stirring...she was pretty good!
Since I had a helper it was harder for me to take pictures so this is all I have...but let me tell you these puppies are DELICIOUS, and if I can bake them with a 5 year old in the kitchen anyone can do it!
After we were done cooking it was time to get ready for the party...this was my company while I did my hair and make-up. My dog (Gracie) was really tolerant all weekend.
I included the last 2 pictures to show you the most adorable 4th of July outfit EVER! While we were shopping on the 3rd we both saw this and immediately knew she needed it! Best purchase I have ever made...she talked about it ALL day!

Tonight she has insisted she is coming back to my house and having a sleepover with me...and you know what? I don't mind one bit! Here is a quick pic from last night
Also...one of my very favorite blogs is celebrating their "blogoversary" with an amazing giveaway!

Color Run, Blog Awards, and Currently

I cannot believe today is July 1st...this summer has really gotten away from me. So far it has been a great summer filled with fun, friends, family, and blogging!

This weekend I got to do something I have been looking forward to for MONTHS! My friends and I signed up for this back in March and we have patiently been counting down the days till the race. If you don't know what the Color Run is check it out HERE. They have them all over and if there happens to be one in your city...DO IT! Honestly...it's a can't miss!

I have been running for years and I sign up for several races a year, and this was a chart topper!! The cool thing about this race was it wasn't timed and most people walked. There were kids, adults, babies in strollers that participated in this race. The race is a 5k and at each k (1k, 2k, 3k etc) they have a color station where volunteers throw colored powder all over you (much better than it sounds I promise!!) Then at the end they had a huge party and we all had our own color packets to throw into the air...it was color mania!! I'm know I am terrible at explaining this and I am proud of anyone who has read this far without getting distracted...here is a video to show you a little about it

Here are some pics of me and my friends before, during, and after the race:

There was no amount of showering yesterday that would get the color off of my body...It's okay I don't mind having green arms!

Also, I wanted to say thank you to Sara at Ramblings of Deaf Ed Teacher' Mind, Tori at Tori's Teacher Tips and Patty at Second In Line for awarding me with The Versatile Blogger award! Honestly nothing beats having someone give you an award...it's the little things that make me happy!!

So here are the rules:
1. Thank the blogger who gave you the award
2. Include a link to their site
3. Include the award image
4. Give 7 random facts about yourself
5. Nominate 15 other bloggers for the award
6. When nominating include a link to their site
7. Let other bloggers know they have been nominated

Alright...random facts hmmm

1. I'm a natural red head and have never dyed my hair
2. I love running and I will be running my first half marathon this fall
3. I have another blog that I post to occasionally (I'm not as consistent as I am with this one)
4. I was a cheerleader for 7 years, all through middle school, high school, and a year in college
5. I taught 5th grade for 3 years and I asked to move to 3rd grade last year
6. I have an unhealthy obsession with reality tv shows...it's my escape!
7. I love doing new, fun things. For example this year I went snowmobiling in Yellowstone and dog-sledding. There is not an adventure that I will turn down.
